The planning documents can be found here. Above and below are some images from the application which give you an idea of the absolutely massive size of this development which will have huge traffic implications for Mottram and the surrounding area.

this is a disgrace, they knock down all them homes and wild life to build a profitable supermarket, so the FAT CAT can get rich, peak valley doesn’t care about us local people who have to live here and go to work, and drive through nice roads and grassy area, and then end up driving past a massive building which will be hammered with cars and lorries and busy people speeding past, causing traffic offensive, hattersley was build because Salford got too busy and populated and a small area, so they built hattersley to more people out of the bust city, and now they’re doing the same by building it AGAIN, hattersley is a green belt area, home to alot of wild life, and new up and coming wild life, and they’re going to build on their land, they want to improve housing and build more parks for children to play, the kid now have nothing to do, and all this land being build on and more small houses n less area will cause havoc, I am against Tesco, 150%

Don't worry there won't be a problem with traffic, they have solved it with two sets of traffic lights. That is the contempt they have for us. And it will happen, look at Glossop and Gorton if that's planning give us a job I've got my own crayons and paper.
This is one of the best things that could happen to Hattersley, lets face it the whole area is an eyesore. At least money is being spent on trying to regenerate the area. At least with the price of petrol going up, it means you have less distance to travel to get your weekly shop.
To see what potentially might happen we of course will need to wait until it opens. An interesting comparison might be made to Newtown powys. This is also on a busy a road from north to south wales. the only delay in town was a small roundabout with no traffic jams. Tesco was built traffic lights replaced the roundabout and the tailbacks now start from the roundabout and reach the edge of town. The solution, now agreed, a bypass. In hollingworth we already have the tailback how far will it now reach? I suspect the bypass will be unstoppable now. Perhaps more interestingly will tesco support or oppose a bypass. As we know tesco tends to be rather successful at geting what it wants when it comes to planning. Whether for or against the bypass if tesco ends up being the decider on the result of this question this will be a sad day for local democracy.
Tescos are ruining Britain. What a disgrace. Tescos are making a mess of this country, destroying communities and the green belt with there ugly eye sore blot on the landscape rip off super markets. ps.. Regarding the Hattersly Tesco fiasco.. clear the mud off the road before someone gets killed!
Tesco are absolutely ridiculous, there is no way someone needs more than one (or even one) their superstores within a five mile radius of their house, which is what will happen to the people who live their. I am never going to go there because 1) it's unnecessary and 2) I fear it will take me an hour to to get back from what should be a five minute journey down the road. Something needs to be done about the greasy councilors who are allowing this to be done.
